Kwik Cricket County Final Success

On Friday 12th July the Y4/5 mixed Kwik cricket team took part in the county finals at Sutton Cricket Club in St. Helens.  The tournament was for the winners of each district in Lancashire (and beyond) and featured 15 teams from places like Blackpool, Liverpool and Wigan.  In glorious sunshine Lordsgate played two group games which they won comfortably. The quarter final was easily negotiated through some excellent bowling and fielding, The semi final was a close game. With a target of 269 set by the opposition our reply required 15 runs off the last six balls, a massive ask.  A superb display of hitting by Patrick Connolly saw him hit three sixes from the over to win the game with runs to spare!  Lordsgate's total in the final was the largest of the day at 327 runs, some excellent fielding together and valuable catches held our opponents to a score of 323.  Making us the champions by just 4 runs!!! As always the children were gracious in victory and exceptionally well behaved showing respect to opponents, each other and the officials throughout the day.  They were an excellent team and a credit to the school! Well done to Megan Jones, Lloyd Rimmer, Jessica Fairclough, Eleanor Bemment, Jack Duncan, Joshua Murray, Lucy Nelson and Patrick Connolly.
