The Y6 residential 2014 began with the whole school lining Lordsgate Drive to see us off! The trip started with a visit to Blists Hill Victorian Village, where children swapped decimal money to old coinage and purchased various items including fairground rides which were enjoyed by all (even Mrs Tonge and Mrs Hughes!)
On arrival at PGL we were assigned our bunks and then whisked away for games and activities including in the evening a game of Dodgeball. Just what we needed to tire us all out for a good nights sleep! On Tuesday 10th June the adventurous activities started in earnest with groups completing the high trapeze, problem solving, the Zip wire and the high ropes. Two groups completed the open water canoeing activity down the river flowing through PGL. Everyone enjoyed a good soaking at the end (except for Mrs Hughes). The teachers have been really impressed with the children's enthusiasm and attitude, completing personal challenges with relative ease, whether it be sleeping away from home, clambering up the high trapeze pole, or flinging themselves off the zip wire.
Everyone is happy, well fed and getting along just fine. The weather is treating us kindly, apart from one short shower today it has been relatively sunny and warm.
We will do our best to update you again tomorrow night from PGL.
