It was fantastic to see the children all dressed up on World Book Day. Thank you for supporting this event with such wonderful outfits. The day began with an assembly explaining the importance of World Book Day and a chance to show off their character costumes. The children had an opportunity to rotate around the classrooms during the day doing activities such as making audio books. At lunch time the female relatives of our community were treated to a special lunch and a chance to spend some time listening to the children read. Special thanks to Mrs Robinson and Mrs Levenson our school cook for organising and working so hard to make this the lunch such a success. In the afternoon children swapped classes once again and had the opportunity to read with children from other classes. On Friday morning we announce dthe winners of our World Book Day ‘Love of Reading’ poster competition. Well Done to everyone who took part. We have some great posters to display in the school library. For the first time on World Book Day we supported and organisation called ‘Book Cycle’ - Thank you to everyone who sent in £1 and a book to recycle—they have been collected and will be sent to Ghana in Africa to build libraries and to share with children out there. Children received a ‘golden ticket’ from the book cycle group which can be swapped for three books at one of their branches. We all had a fantastic World Book Day.
