On Thursday 2nd February the winner of ‘The Great British Bake Off 2011’, Jo Wheatley, came to the school as part of the prize for Mrs Levenson’s Big School Bake Off win in the Autumn Term. Jo gave each class a cookery demonstration of how to make a giant cupcake. The children then all got the opportunity to decorate their own cupcakes. At dinner time we were served the winning dessert, a cake made with homemade apple and blackberry jam with a Vimto twist and elderflower and rose icing. At the end of the day we hosted a special assembly where Mrs Levenson was able to speak about her achievements and received gifts on behalf of Mellors and the school for all her hard work. We are very proud of Mrs Levenson’s achievement. She has worked tirelessly for Lordsgate school since joining us in 2013, producing some exciting and creative meals and desserts for the children, especially around our various themes and festivals. She has been a great role model for the children during our recent theme about positive attitudes to learning and life showing that with the right attitude or ‘mindset’ anything is possible. Thank you Mrs Levenson!! There are pictures of the Bake Off day on the school Website.
