In September we found out that the school had been awarded the National Games Mark Gold Award for academic year 2018-2019. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. With a total of 75 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
On Wednesday 13th November we were invited to attend a ceremony where the twenty or so schools out of all the schools in West Lancashire who achieved the Gold Mark received their award. Mr Hackett and two pupil representatives, Rachael F and Lewis P, were pleased to receive the award from a local celebrity Harry Coppell—one of the UK’s best Pole Vaulters.
