Harvest Festival 2017

Our focus for the Harvest service this year was to return to our theme of ‘The Fruits of the Spirit’. At harvest time, as we thank God for the crops that are grown in our gardens and farmers’ fields, classes considered how the fruits of the spirit can grow in our lives too. Each class linked their harvest presentation to a fruit of the spirit like patience, joy and peace. The service began with the Junior choir singing the beautiful ‘Love song to the Earth’. We had plenty of musical worship this year as the infant choir also performed ‘Harvest Rock and Roll’ during the service. Other elements of the service included:

Reception – To show ‘Love’ sang ‘Thank you God’

Y1 – To show ‘Peace’ presented the Harvest of the Ocean

Y2 – To show Kindness sang ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’

Y4 – To show ‘Joy’ presented the Harvest of the Earth and sang the joyful Harvest Samba

Y5 – To show ‘Humility and gentleness’ presented special poems

Y6– To show ‘Patience’ shared poems about patience and sang a fantastic song

Y3—To show ‘Goodness and generosity’ told us about the work of the food bank

During the service donations of tinned and dry good were received. All your donations of food will support the work of local food banks. At the end of the harvest service we reflected on the fruits of the spirit that had been presented: Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, generosity and kindness would grow within ourselves and our community. Well done to all the children and staff for a superb service. Thank you all once again for your generous donations. We intend to put a small collection box in our school entrance so that we can be a collection point for the food bank all year round.
