Harvest Service at St John's Church
Harvest Festival this year was a musical extravaganza to celebrate our work on this terms Christian Value of Respect. We have been thinking about showing love and compassion for everyone irrespective of differences, religion or culture. Our theme became ‘Harvest around the World’ with the classes contributions including:
Reception— A nice traditional British hymn to start us off
Y1—As song related to their work on the Jewish festival of Sukkot
Y2—Harvest for the world song
Y3—A Brazilian Harvest—Harvest Samba Song
Y4—An African Harvest—African Bread song
Y5—A Caribbean harvest—Reggae, Reggae Harvest Song
Y6—An Asian Harvest—Rice song
The service included two songs that we have learnt with St John’s British Sign Language choir—’Thankful’ and ‘Bread of Life’ performed brilliantly by the children. The finale was a ‘Imela’ meaning thank you—a Pearl of Africa song which we will be singing with the choir when they visit after half term. The infant and Junior choirs also contributed well making this year a harvest service to remember with everyone humming and singing the songs for the rest of the day.
