On Thursday 7th February Jo from the NSPCC and ‘Buddy’ the NSPCC mascot visited the school to deliver their Speak out. Stay safe programme to the children. This was followed up on Thursday 14th February with one hour workshops for Year 5 and 6 in their classrooms. During these sessions children had age appropriate information about staying safe. Jo described to children how they can carry around their problems like a ‘sack of worries’ and encouraged them to talk to a trusted adult if they were feeling sad, worried or unsafe. The NSPCC reinforced that ChildLine was another source of support for children.
Following the assembly the school council planned and supervised a sponsored ‘Wacky Wobbly Workout’ on the daily mile track to raise money to help children who are supported by Childline or the NSPCC. The sponsored events involved over and under challenges, slaloms, net crawls, hurdles and activity stations. We were delighted with the response to the sponsored event and am pleased to say that Lordsgate raised £600 for the NSPCC.
