On Thursday 6th March 2014 Lordsgate celebrated World Book Day in style as part of our 'Big Year of Reading'. Thank you to all the parents who bought or made costumes for the children they all looked superb and really made the day special for them. The day began with a special assembly from author/illustrator Steve Smallman, who amazed the children with his talent producing sketches and story outlines from the children’s ideas in a matter of minutes. For the rest of the day the children enjoyed visiting other classrooms to take part in activities led by the teachers. In the reception classroom children made ‘Story Sliders’, in Y1 they came up with ideas and designs for a new school library, in year 3 they made up story potions and in Y5 and Y6 the children made book worms.
