Y1 and Y2 Visit Gorse Hill Nature Reserve
On Friday Y1 and Y2 went on a trip to Gorse Hill Nature Reserve as part of their studies on the geography of the local area and their topic on Plants and Animals. The children were given a tour of the Hill with various vantage points of Liverpool, Southport, Blackpool and Ormskirk to help them develop a senses of place and land use. In the nature reserve children took part in a workshops on animals which included pond dipping , looking at bird nests and classifying activities. There was also time for a short worship session at the top of Gorse Hill, with the wind rustling the grass, the birds singing and the sun on our faces it was a truly spiritual experience for children and staff alike. The children as always were exceptionally well behaved and a credit to the school.
