On Monday 11th November 2013 at 11am the children from Y5 joined in with the memorial service at the Ringtail memorial by Burscough industrial park. The reasons for this are two fold. Firstly Y5 have been studying this period of history as part of their curriculum this term. Secondly, and more importantly, the history of our school is linked to the Ringtail Memorial as for much of its life the school was to be found at the end of Lordsgate Lane in Burscough ‘Township’ as opposed to its current position in the ‘Village’. During the Second World War the school was demolished and the land was used as an airfield for the Fleet Air Arm, this land was called HMS Ringtail Royal Naval Air Station. Year 5 were a credit to the school, respectful and well behaved. Everyone involved in the service agreed that the attendance of the children at the service made it even more special.
