End of Key Stage 2 results (July 2023)

Teachers assess children all through the year and use this ongoing assessment to inform their plans for the next stage of learning. They assess by marking work, talking to children to check their understanding and observing the children completing tasks. When the children reach Y6 an overall assessment is made as to whether in the classroom environment they are meeting the expected standard (EXS) , working towards the expected standard (WTS) or are greater depth within the expected standard (GDS).

In addition to teacher assessment  each year our Y6 children take part in  national curriculum KS2 tests, also known as SATs, in May. The tests included maths, Grammar Punctuation and spelling (GPS) and English reading.  School-level results of pupils’ attainment and progress are published on the DfE’s school performance tables website.  Writing is assessed using teacher assessment outlined above.

As you can see for the past three years we have been above the National Average in Reading, Writing and Maths at the expected standard and most of the higher standards too.  We are delighted that our Y6 children are able to achieve so highly whilst engaging in Lordsgate's broad and balanced curriculum and enrichment offer.  We never put pressure on children to achieve well during the SATs period, simple to 'try their best'

Below are the results for pupils who completed key stage 2 in the summer of 2023. These figures were published in December 2023 and can be found on the DfE website at  https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/school/119481/burscough-lordsgate-township-church-of-england-primary-school/primary
