Year 1

'Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.' Hebrews 13:1

Welcome to Y1's Class Page

Thank you for taking the time to look through our page and tabs- here you will find all of the information you will need regarding all things Year 1. Please see the tab descriptions below and where to find what you are looking for...

The Homework and Spellings section explains how we complete homework and spellings.

The Autumn Term tab gives you ALL the information regarding Y1 including weekly newsletters.

The New Year 1 Starters section is full of transition documents that were also sent to you in the post.

The Home Learning tab was all of the home learning from our time during lock down for the previous Year 1 class.

General Information:

Miss Teague and Mrs Hillman work in Y1 with the fantastic children!

PE days are Monday and Wednesday (please ensure the children come into school in their PE kit on these days and earrings are removed)

We also complete the daily mile every day on our running track. This track allows the children to stay safe, clean and dry from the muddy grass when completing their daily mile therefore they will be fine running in their school shoes.

Children must bring in their reading folder in everyday as they will be heard reading throughout the week at different points. Reading books are changed once a week on a Wednesday for the time being. Please read with your child for at least 10 minutes a day and record in their diary, what they have read and how much they have read, this helps to support us in the classroom. We shall be sending 2 books home for the week. If you are getting through these books quickly then please read your own books from home and record this too in their reading diary.

Reading Books will be home by this coming Friday 4th September and then the usual procedure of changing books begins next Wednesday. We shall assess reading in a few weeks and consider moving some children along but for now we want the children to get back into a routine of reading regularly which I am sure they have been doing anyway.

Any books you have at home from reception, please send them back into school.

Please take the time to locate the information you need via the different tabs. There is also a resource about end of year expectations for Year 1. This won't come into play just yet, more information about assessment will be with you soon.

As we are unable to discuss things on the playground, please use your child's reading diary as a source of communication from home to school and vice versa.

Thank you

Miss Teague and Mrs Hillman
