Class Blog by Imogen and Megan
In our class we have been doing amazing and fun activities in our science about light! We started off learning about light sources. We had to sort out different light sources into whether they were artificial or natural. After doing this, Mrs Evans explained to us how light refracts off objects into our eyes so we can see. To represent this, we drew diagrams in our books that shows how light travels. The next week, we learnt about the different parts and functions off the human eye. We learnt the names of the parts and made flip-books to help us remember this information. This week, we studied how light reflects of reflective materials and mirrors. To help us understand, we drew special diagrams on the tables in whiteboard pen. Mrs Evans took pictures of the finished diagrams that we stuck in our books.
In RE, we have been learning about God. In our first lesson, we looked at prayer. We each wrote our own prayers. Some of them went up on the wall, others went into our RE scrapbook The next week, we rotated around the different tables. Each table had a different question. We answered them on a big piece of paper. The most recent activity that we did, was drawing a picture representing faith. Because our class value is Faith.
Welcome to Year 6 2019-20
Just a few things to mention to welcome you all to Year 6.
- Our homework will be uploaded to the school website (on this page) every Friday - this is expected to be completed in homework books and to be in school by the following Wednesday.
- Each week, there will be set of spellings to learn (there are different spelling groups but the children should know which group they are - it will be in their reading diaries).
- Reading books should be brought into school each day and the children should be independently recording what they have written each day. The expectation is for the children to read at home everyday.
- Our PE days are a Thursday and Friday afternoon. Please ensure that the correct kit is in school.
If you have any concerns or questions - please come and ask. Thanks, Mrs Evans and Mrs Saywer.
