Harvest Service - Harvest of Love
On Friday 13th October all the children attended St John’s church to take part in our annual Harvest Service. This year our service was called ‘Harvest of Love’ as we were; thanking God that he loves us and provides for us, sharing our love and thinking of others and showing how we can love God’s world (all aspects of our curriculum strands). Each class did a short presentation, we sung a song in British Sign Language called ‘Together’ and our choir gave a rendition of ‘You can count on me’. Here is each classes contribution:
Reception—What we are thankful for and a harvest song
Y1—Thankful for breakfast and cereal and thinking about what Ugandan children might have during their day
Y2—Thankful for God’s creation and how we should look after it
Y3—’Harvest for the World’ song
Y4—St John’s Classrooms for Kiyindi appeal and ‘It’s a Wonderful World’ song
Y5—Food miles and how we should consider where our food comes from
Y6—Pearl of Africa Choir visit and ‘Asante’ song and dance
As part of the service we reminded families that we are also collecting for St John’s chosen charity of Classrooms for Kiyindi, also in Uganda. A group of people, including ex-pupils from Lordsgate will be visiting next year to help the classrooms to be built. Once again thank you for your generous donations and sponsorship.
Videos of the reception, Year 3’s, Year 4’s, year 6’s and choir singing in church can be found in the event gallery on the school website.
