  • Antibullying week—13th—17th November 2023

Fri 17 Nov 2023 Mr Hackett

The theme of this year’s Antibullying week was ‘Make a noise about bullying’ where we reminded children to talk to an adult if they are worried about bullying and to show kindness through their actions. The children wore  ‘odd socks’ to help understand the message that we are all special and unique and should not be teased for being different.  As well as special assemblies each class contributed to the theme in their own way.

Rec– Made a recipe for friendship and posters to show how they looked after each another

Y1— Read stories that supported the theme and made ‘Good friend hand wreaths’

Y2— Designed posters on how to ‘make a noise about bullying’

Y3—Looked at cyberbullying and what a positive and negative response to on-line bullying would be

Y4—Worked together to write antibullying poetry

Y5—Wrote antibullying poems and designed posters around the ‘make some noise’ theme

Y6 worked on one of their passport activities which was to design an event for the school.  They planned and delivered a fabulous day of antibullying workshops for other classes to take part in.  Activities included friendship chains, bullying Bingo, board games, making ‘make a noise’ shakers, Odd Socks puzzles and ‘Small Girl Big World’ scenario plays.  Everyone enjoyed the Y6 workshops and we all enjoyed sharing work completed in Antibullying week in Monday’s worship.

  • Remembrance Services

Sun 12 Nov 2023 Mr Hackett

Each year we like to commemorate our local links with the Ringtail Airfield by attending the Ringtail Memorial Service held on the 11th November each year.  This year Callum represented the  school superbly on Saturday 11th by laying a wreath on behalf of the Lordsgate community at the memorial and taking part in the service.

We were also invited by the local council to the Burscough and District memorial service of Remembrance held on Sunday 12th November.  It was lovely to be part of this community event alongside the other local youth organisation such as guides, brownies, rainbows, scouts etc which many of our children attend.  It was great that this year eight Lordsgate children represented the school in the parade and took part in the service. A special mention to Charlotte and Annie in Y6 who represented the school by reading out names from the Roll of Honour, the fallen whose names are inscribed on the memorial and laying stones  We were very proud of their contribution to the service speaking clearly and with confidence.  Thank you also to Stevie, Kaden, Hugo, Eva, Sophie and Daniel who braved the weather to attend.
