Earth Warriors Tree Planting - Friday 17th October
Fri 17 Oct 2025On Friday 17th October our ‘Earth Warriors’ were invited to attend a tree planting session with Burscough Town Council at a new site earmarked to be a small nature reserve on Back Moss Lane. The children were given a short talk about the tress they were planting and once they had been shown how to ‘plant a tree’ were set off to cover a small area just for our school. Members of the council and the local authority were very impressed with the children’s knowledge and enthusiasm and we look forward to revisting the site to see the fruits of our labours. The site is not yet open to the public but we look forward to letting you know when it is and organising another visit for the children. Well done to Ray, Georgie, Edie, Tiffany, Charlie W, Isobelle, Charlotte. Alfie, Evelyn, Charlie C and Emily.

Harvest Service—Friday 17th October
Fri 17 Oct 2025We had a fantastic Harvest service which incorporated our curriculum strand of God's love for others through the wonderful donations we received. Our Service also supported our theme of ‘love for the world’ through consideration of the journey our food has to take to get to our dinner plates. We thanked God, for his hand in each part of the process. . . . .
Reception thanked God for His creation. He made the world for us to look after and created plants and animals to be our food.Year 1 sang a song and shared information about planting seeds.
Year 4 thanked God for the rain and the sun and the soil to grow seeds in.
Year 5 produced wonderful artwork and a lovely poem about harvesting the land and the seas.Year 3 shared an A to Z of how food is produced in our factories.
Year 2 said thank you for our food through artwork and a lovely song.
Year 6 have been learning about global warming and our carbon footprint. As part of their science studies. They shared what they had been learning and also discussed the problems of food waste, an issue we have been tackling in school recently.
Well done everyone, thank you to our Junior Choir for another great performance and a special well done to our new reception class for their wonderful first performance in our church.

Pearl of Africa Choir Visit—Friday 10th October 2025
Fri 10 Oct 2025On Friday 10th October the whole school community welcomed four children and their adult chaperone ‘Auntie Annette’ to Lordsgate School. The Pearl of Africa Choir represent 1800 children who are looked after in 5 schools run by the Molly and Paul Foundation in Uganda. The children are desperate fro money to gain an education, to access medications such as anti-malarial drugs and for food. We learnt that a £5 donation would feed a child the porridge they are provided with for one month and that £10 would give a child protection from Malaria. Only four children were allowed Visas this year when in previous yeasr we have hosted upt o 15 children. This was a shame and means it is harder for the charity to raise money. However It was fantastic to see how Lordsgate children interacted so respectfully with the choir members that did come to Lordsgate during workshops that the choir ran during the day and at lunchtime. At the end of the school day we showcased a dance the children learnt to the song ‘Oshea’ meaning thank you and demonstrated our drumming skills! In the evening the Pearl of Africa Choir gave us a wonderful concert of African song and dance accompanied by the drumming skills of the young people from the choir. It was a wonderful moment when our school choir joined the concert and sang two songs alongside the Pearl of Africa children. The children were able to buy Ugandan crafts thanks to the generous donations you sent in to school and money was also raised though ticket sales and donations. More information about the choir and ways you can donate if you have been moved by our links with this charity can be found at www.pearlofafrica.org.uk. We believe we have raised nearly £2000 for this worthwhile charity to support children in Uganda.
