  • Y6 Tuesday Shoppers Service at St John’s Church

Tue 23 Sep 2025 Mr Hackett

On Tuesday 23rd September Y6 were invited to the 20th Anniversary of the Tuesday ‘Shoppers’ Service at St John’s church to showcase some of the Sign Language they have been learning with Graham Powell.  Graham is coming in to Lordsgate and working with the Y6 class on their Level 1 British Sign Language Award every Tuesday.  He also signs at the Tuesday service which we are developing links with the plan for the children to regularly support this event.  The Tuesday service was originally set up in 2005 to deliver a new informal style of service capturing the new community that the opening of the Tesco Superstore would bring to Burscough.  The service has been going from strength to strength from then and is now attended by many in our community who prefer ‘a shorter and more informal style of worship’.  The children’s signing of ‘Thankful’ was well received by the congregation and the children enjoyed joining in with the service.

  • Football Tournament—Tuesday 23rd September—District Champions!

Tue 23 Sep 2025 Mr Hackett

Last Tuesday, 10 of our year 5s and 6s went to represent our school at the Ormskirk/Tarleton football tournament - the first event of the year!  As always, expectation and excitement was high and our boys quickly got into their stride, winning their first three games.  We then played out a very frustrating 0-0 draw, with the Lordsgate team missing a glut of chances to win the game.  It became tense in the final few games as it became clear that the chance for glory was in the offing.  We won our next 2 games, including a comeback win against Tarleton, to set up a final showdown against Ormskirk CE school.  A tense affair was settled with the final kick of the game as Cody raced through to score - a goal that meant we had been unbeaten all evening and were rightly named CHAMPIONS!!! Very well done to all of the boys who contributed so well to this success: Edward P, Ben, Cody, Stevie, Stanley, Jamie, Joe, Tommy, Lucas & James.
