  • Coronation Lunch & Big Help Out

Fri 05 May 2023 Mrs Hill

On Friday 5th May we got into the spirit of the Coronation weekend by organising a combined Big Lunch and Big Help out day.

At midday families arrived armed with picnic blankets and joined the children for a lovely picnic lunch provided by our school kitchens. The weather was initially lovely and there was a wonderful community atmosphere on the playground as families, children and staff mingled in the sunshine.  A torrential downpour at 12.30pm didn't dampen the spirts and after a quick wet play we were able to return outside and finish with a rendition of ‘God Save the King’.

As part of the afternoon a group of volunteers answered the call for the ‘Big Help Out’ to help with some much needed jobs around the school. Our volunteers tidied the storage container, trimmed back areas in the wildlife garden, put up signs, hung bird boxes and bird feeders, planted bedding plants in our Values Garden, cleaned and tidied the Reception outdoor area and sorted books in the library!!  All in two hours, filling a skip in record time.  A massive Thank You to all the helpers for giving time to support the gardening effort and  a big  thank you to the following local Companies for their support and donations:

Ormskirk Skips.—Free Skip for the day

Ring O Bells Plant Nursery : Donated a wonderful selection of bedding plants, strawberry plants and shrubs

Additive Manufacturing Solutions Ltd. : Donation to purchase bark for outside spaces

Clarkes Golf Centre: Plants and wildlife garden resources

  • Y4 PGL residential May 2023 - Day 1

Tue 02 May 2023 Mr Hackett

On Tuesday 2nd May 2023 Y4 set off for Winmarleigh PGL activity centre accompanied by Mrs Donohue, Mrs Herne and Mr Hackett.  After arriving at the centre at 10am it wasn't long before they were already taking part in our team challenges.  On Tuesday 2nd May the children took part in leading each other through a sensory trail, blindfolded!  They have also completed archery and the trapeze activity - also known as 'the leap of faith'.  All the children have been very well behaved and enjoyed the PGL food - burgers at lunchtime and fish fingers for tea (for example!!).  The children are looking forward to another full day of activities tomorrow including the Giant Swing and the Challenge Course.
